Reports: PM Narendra Modi, Australian PM Anthony Albanese to attend India vs Australia Test in Ahmedabad
On February 9, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy begins in Nagpur as India and Australia compete for a spot in WTC final.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is right around the corner, and throughout the years, the Indian national side has developed a fierce rivalry with Australia. India has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on each of their last three attempts, and they will be looking to repeat this feat as the first Test commences from February 9.
It has been reported by the Times of India that the leaders of both countries, the Indian PM. Narendra Modi, and Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, will be present for the fourth and final Test of this year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The fourth Test will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Interestingly, it will be the Prime Minister’s first match that he attends in the stadium after the refurbished stadium was named after him.
India and Australia to lock horns in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
This series is one of the most anticipated Test series in all of cricket, as both the nations will aim to seal their berth for the World Test Championship final.
The Indian national team will arrive in Nagpur on February 2, and train there until February 8.The middle order of India has taken a hit as Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the first Test in Nagpur. Iyer had his rehab extended completely as a precautionary measure, he should be back in the squad in time for the second Test.
The team does have some good news as Ravindra Jadeja received the green signal from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The all-rounder underwent knee surgery in the latter half of 2022, but is now all set to join the squad in time for the series to begin.
