After losing the first couple of Tests, Stuart Broad played a huge role in helping England draw the Ashes series 2-2. The England pacer finished as England's highest wicket-taker (22) in the high-voltage series and fell one wicket short of Mitchell Starc, who bagged 23 wickets to top the list of wicket-takers. The 37-year-old ended his career as the highest wicket-taker (153) for England in the Ashes and only behind Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath in the overall list.

On Day 3 of the fifth and final Test, Broad announced it would be his last assignment as a professional cricketer. Interestingly, the right-arm seamer bagged the last couple of Aussie wickets on Day 5 to help the hosts win the match by 49 runs. The T20 World Cup winner received MBE in 2016 for his contribution to cricket, and now it seems that another remarkable honour is coming his way.

As per a report from Daily Mail, Tory MPs are pushing for the England pacer to be given knighthood. "One of the things that people were most asking for was a knighthood for Broadie. He’s been an incredible servant for English cricket and cricket in general," a party source was quoted as saying in the report.

"A knighthood would be richly deserved,"  James Daly, chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cricket, said. The report also states that UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is 'very sympathetic' to the idea of knighthood.

Stuart Broad made his debut for England in a T20I against Pakistan in 2006. Later in his career, the stalwart was considered a Test specialist, and he formed one of the most lethal bowling partnerships the game has ever seen alongside James Anderson. If Broad goes on to become "Sir Stuart", it will be a fitting title for someone who has contributed immensely to the sport.
