Sunrisers Hyderabad were a batting heavy team in Indian Premier League 2024. Their presence on the field was so dreadful that they even broke the highest team total record in the history of IPL scoring 287 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The team breached the 250-run mark thrice in IPL 2024 and were in marauding form until Kolkata Knight Riders pipped them in the final to claim their third IPL title. It is worth noting that SRH has won the title only once in 2016.
As the mega auction looms, the franchise is in conundrum to pick the best from the best. According to ESPNcricinfo, the Hyderabad-based team had already finalised their top three retentions in the form of Heinrich Klaasen, SRH captain Pat Cummins and Abhishek Sharma. With this development catching attention, the team will be retaining Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy, for INR 14 crore and INR 6 crore, respectively.
It is also set that Cummins will continue to lead SRH with the coaching staff led by Daniel Vettori. It was under the stewardship of both that SRH reached the playoffs for the first time since 2020 in the previous edition.
