England all-rounder Moeen Ali is the latest cricketer to be targetted by Major League Cricket (MLC) for their upcoming franchise tournament, starting July 13. Notably, as reported by The Telegraph, his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Chennai Super Kings, are set to offer the cricketer a two-year deal which will see Moeen a part of Texas Super Kings in the USA-based competition and Joburg Super Kings, CSK’s sister franchise in South Africa.

Notably, the 35-year-old has played 74 T20I matches, scoring 1076 runs in the process and also has 42 wickets to his name. Thus, he has vast experience in the shortest format and on top of that, the all-rounder has done well for the Super Kings franchise previously.

He also has a great relationship with them, and now, the idea is to take it to the next stage. If the cricketer ends up signing in favour of them, then the franchise will have control over his schedule. He will also have to relinquish his England contract, which can eventually his spot under threat in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Interestingly, Ali is the second cricketer to get approached by an MLC franchise. Jason Roy recently signed in favour of the Los Angles Knight Riders, which has already created quite a buzz in the cricketing world. The cricketer on May 25 clarified that his primary target is always to play for England, but since the Three Lions doesn’t have any international matches at the moment, he prefers to play in the inaugural edition of the competition, for that, the opener has parted ways with England and Wales Cricket Board’s increment contract.

“As a single format player with no central contract, I wanted to take the opportunity to play this competition as there are currently no scheduling conflicts with England. It benefits me as an England player to play as much competitive cricket as possible. Just to be very clear, my priority is England cricket, especially with a World Cup soon upon us. It is for me, and for any player, the greatest honour to receive a cap to play for their country,” Roy mentioned in a statement.
