Rising Indian cricket star Rinku Singh recently revealed his desire to join Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), if franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decide to release him before the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 26-year-old left-handed batter, who has become a crucial part of KKR's lineup, expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli as the primary reason for his interest in RCB.

Singh's growth began with his outstanding performance in IPL 2023, leading him to his maiden national call-up. His breakout moment happened when he smashed Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes when KKR was playing against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad last year. So far he has featured in two ODIs and 23 T20Is. When asked about his team preference if KKR decides not to retain him, Rinku didn't hesitate to name RCB.

"RCB, because Virat Kohli is there,” Singh was quoted as saying by News18.

I haven't performed that well: Rinku Singh

Amid tasting success in the IPL and international appearances, Rinku Singh faced a setback when he was not selected for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. Interestingly enough, Singh showed his bowling skills during the third T20I against Sri Lanka in July 2024. Notably, during his short bowling spell, he claimed two wickets.

"I haven't performed that well. I didn't play many Ranji Trophy matches, only 2-3, and I didn't perform well, that's why I wasn't selected. Hopefully, my name will be included for the next matches," he added.

"Everyone knows now because, in the last match against Sri Lanka, I bowled and took 2 wickets, so everyone knows that I can bowl as well," Singh concluded.
