Indian cricket sensation Rishabh Pant is set to make a remarkable return to the field after overcoming a challenging period of rehabilitation following a severe car accident. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batter has been given the green light by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) just in time for IPL 2024, marking a triumphant comeback to the sport's grand stage.
Pant's journey back to cricketing glory has been nothing short of inspiring. After enduring surgery and a gruelling 14-month rehabilitation stint at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, he has exhibited resilience and determination throughout his recovery process.
Reflecting on his arduous hiatus in a recent interview, Pant shared a mix of emotions and anticipation for his return.
"Honestly, I indeed thought of it. It’s been over a year since I played. I tried to think of every kind of possibility. But then, I do it every day anyway," Pant revealed in an exclusive conversation with Times Of India when asked if he ever played a match in his mind.

Addressing the buzz surrounding his comeback, particularly with IPL and the upcoming T20 World Cup on the horizon, Pant remained grounded.
"We will see when we get to March 23 (Delhi Capitals’ first match). I also don’t know how to react. I don’t know what kind of feeling it will be. I am trying to enjoy this. I don’t want to stress too much. I try not to get too much ahead of myself but I do think about the possibilities — both positive and negative. I try to filter that and keep working with a positive mindset," he remarked.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans, Pant emphasised the warmth and affection he received during his recovery.
"I love my fans and I can’t deny the concern they have shown for me. I felt I was family to everyone. When I used to travel, I met people at airports. I was made to feel so comfortable. All the 'didis' who work at the airport, they would ask, ‘Beta, aap theek ho na (son, are you doing well)?’ I can’t express the emotion when I received this kind of love," he shared.
Pant's return to cricket promises to be a momentous occasion, not only for him but also for fans eagerly awaiting his comeback on the pitch. With his indomitable spirit and unwavering determination, Pant is poised to make a significant impact once again.
