Reports: Rishabh Pant likely to step down from Delhi Capitals' captaincy

Star cricketer Rishabh Pant made a comeback to competitive cricket via the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) after a life-threatening accident in December 2022. The wicketkeeper-batter straightaway walked into the Delhi Capital team after two years of hiatus and assumed the usual captaincy position.
Though the franchise finished sixth in the points table, Pant’s comeback was the highlight of the season.
The surprising move comes as the Uttarakhand batter opts to focus on his batting reducing the captaincy burden. Moreover, former India captain, Sourav Ganguly will be removed as the Director of the Delhi Capitals and Venugopal Rao might hold the position ahead of the impending season. The source close to the franchise revealed that the camp has finalised their three retentions in the form of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant.
"Sourav Ganguly will no longer be participating in working and functioning of the Delhi Capitals in You can say he will be the Women's Director of Cricket and will mostly be overseeing the Women's Premier League team and the Pretoria Capitals in SA20," a source said.
