Rishabh Pant met with a scary accident on Friday morning (December 30), on National Highway 58, while driving to Roorkee. He was hospitalised after the car accident, and the BCCI then released a statement informing about the injuries sustained by the wicketkeeper-batter. Though he is out of danger now, he has sustained injuries to his head, knee, and back.
The scans of his brain and spine, meanwhile, are reportedly clear. The BCCI has recommended the Max Hospital in Dehradun not to start treating the ligament injury to his knee straight away. As per reports, he will be shifted to either Delhi or Mumbai, and upon his arrival, the next phase of treatment will be decided.
As per a report by Cricbuzz, it is understood that Pant’s coach Devendra Sharma informed the cricketer’s family that though his condition is stable, he needs long-term treatment. The report also says that one of Pant’s friends told him not to drive alone before he left Dehradun, but the cricketer was confident about managing the entire traveling.
Rishabh's condition remains stable: BCCI Statement
After the accident, he was taken to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee before being shifted to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. The CCTV footage of the accident went viral after the incident, and the crash looked brutal. After a long wait, the BCCI finally revealed the intricacies of the accident and released a statement which read:
“Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh's condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.”
The recently concluded Test series in Bangladesh was where the 25-year-old last played. He was not included in the T20I or ODI squads for the forthcoming Sri Lanka series, and when rumors of the cricketer being dropped surfaced, the BCCI revealed that he had been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy. It seems like it will take months for the cricketer to get back in shape and get fit to play, and the entire nation will be praying for his quick and timely recovery.
