After a couple of poor seasons in the Indian Premier League, there were reports of Rajasthan Royals releasing Riyan Parag ahead of the 17th edition. However, the franchise ultimately kept their faith in the youngster and in return, Parag has produced multiple match-winning knocks so far in the ongoing edition. He has made 185 runs in four matches and is currently fourth in the Orange Cap list.
Meanwhile, analysing his performance in the ongoing season, former cricketer Brad Hogg mentioned that the youngster has matured a lot, which is being reelected on his performances. Hogg added that Parag had a bit of ego last year but has learned to control it and believes more in his ability, which is the key reason behind his success in Rajasthan, the only unbeaten side in the tournament.

“And I am really liking when I am seeing young (Riyan) Parag. He is the youngest player to hit a fifty in the history of IPL. I love his energy and I love the way he fields. I think he has really matured this year. Last year, I guess he had a bit of a strut on him. I don't say this disrespectfully but I think he had a bit of ego last year. The ego is still there but it is in control. He believes in himself and he is now more worried about what he can do for the team rather than trying to seal his place in the team,” Hogg was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The former Australia international also lauded the inaugural champions and believes that they have the most balanced squad in the tournament. He mentioned that once Sandeep Sharma returns from injury, the franchise can use him as a sixth bowling option, courtesy of the Impact Sub rule.

“According to me, Rajasthan Royals are the best-balanced team in the tournament. I like the way how they have set their entire lineup. If Sandeep Sharma can get fully-fit as well, then he can add up as the sixth bowling option for them,” Hogg added.
