Team India Captain Rohit Sharma had a dismal tour of Australia, where he failed to get going with the bat. Notably, Sharma had skipped the first Test due to paternity duties but joined the team from the second Test. However, after winning the Test in Perth under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, things went downhill both for the visitors and the hitman.
Given how the series panned out for Rohit both as a batter and his captaincy, the former India legend Sunil Gavaskar was seemingly unhappy about the Indian Captain's approach and proactiveness while leading in the field. However, as per recent reports, it was revealed that he had lodged an official complaint against Gavaskar with the supreme cricket governing body, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
Notably, Sharma managed to score just 31 runs at a paltry average of 6.00 from his three Test appearances during the BGT 2024-25 (Border-Gavaskar Trophy). As a result, this led to Sunil Gavaskar firing shots and questioning Rohit's place in the Test side. He was also not pleased with the regular skipper opting to sit out of the Sydney Test and felt that his future in red-ball cricket was shrouded by uncertainty. Furthermore, he also wanted the Mumbai-based leader to step away from the Captaincy role and give a chance to others to lead India ahead.
As per Cricblogger, this harsh criticism was not taken in good zest by the Indian Captain, who decided to approach the BCCI to complain regarding his scrutiny in an unwanted manner. Additionally, Rohit Sharma also said that some external situations led to him not performing up to the mark for Team India.

“Rohit felt that it was not necessary for Sunil Gavaskar to criticize him in that fashion and that’s why he complained to the BCCI about Gavaskar. All these added so much pressure that he was compelled to tell it all to BCCI,” the source said.
