Rohit Sharma departs cheaply in Ranji Trophy clash against Jammu & Kashmir
Rohit Sharma scored 3 runs in 19 deliveries.
Star India skipper Rohit Sharma had recently decided to play in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Representing Mumbai, Rohit’s decision came after his horrid show in the longest format for the Indian team. Playing three out of five Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Rohit failed to put in a single good performance.
Today, Rohit opened the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal as Mumbai took on Jammu & Kashmir at the BKC Ground in Mumbai. The senior batter once again failed to go big, playing 19 deliveries to open the innings and departing on a score of three runs.
The Indian skipper’s string of low scores continued as the worries rise. With his subpar form in the longest format of the game, the fans would be worried for Rohit as the Indian team is gearing up for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
Apart from Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to go big as well. The star batter played eight deliveries and departed for just four runs. Needless to say, Mumbai got off to a subpar start to their clash against J&K.

Jammu & Kashmir put in excellent performance in first innings
Speaking of the clash between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir, the clash began with Mumbai batting first and coming out to bowl, J&K managed to put in an excellent performance. After Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma’s failure in the first innings, the likes of Hardik Tamore and skipper Ajinkya Rahane failed to go big as well.
Tamore scored seven runs, with Rahane departing for just 12 runs. Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer added 11 runs on the board with Shivam Dube departing for a duck. By the 20th over, J&K had limited Mumbai to a score of 71 runs, with the side having lost seven wickets in the process as well. Mumbai’s lower-order batters will hope to stabilise the innings and post a respectable total on the board.
