India star pacer Mohammed Shami's travel to Australia has been derailed after an injury revelation by India skipper Rohit Sharma during the press conference after the 2nd Test at Adelaide. The people will have to wait longer for the 34-year-old seam sensation to get back to International Cricket in the tour down under.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is still going on and the Indian team has started to prepare for the upcoming 3rd Test which will be played at the Gabba. The Indian team would want to make a comeback after the horrible performances at the Adelaide Oval where the Aussies gave them a 10-wicket thrashing and ended the match in just 3 days. This will also be the opportunity for Rohit Sharma and his men to repeat the historic victory of 2021 where they beat the odds and beat the Aussies at home once again.
There is no doubt that the Indian pace attack has some talented individuals but the pacer that everyone is waiting for is Mohammed Shami who was set to return to the side after his long break due to an ankle injury. Shami has also been active in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). However, it turns out that Rohit Sharma’s press conference in Adelaide where he talked about Shami's injury has changed the whole scenario as he revealed that they do not want to take risks and put pressure on him as of now.
“We don't want to bring him here in a situation and he plays and then he pulls up sore or something happens. We don't want to put pressure on him to come here and do the job for the team. So, there are some professionals who are monitoring him," Rohit Sharma said.
Though there will still be a bit of a long wait until Shami makes a return to the Indian side for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, he seems to be doing well in the domestic scene where he has shown a lot of improvement in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Bengal and gave great performances in the last two games.
