Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to score only 50 runs in the two-match Test series against South Africa. He faced multiple challenges with the bat, which according to the opener will help him grow as a cricketer. The 22-year-old mentioned it was a ‘learning experience’ for him as he had an enjoyable time in the country and will aim to get better.

He also gave credit to skipper Rohit Sharma for his positive mindset. Jaiswal is given an open hand to play a fearless brand of cricket in the longest format, which eventually suits his playing style. He added that after losing the first match in Centurion, the goal was to get the job done in Cape Town for which, he had planned to give a good start to the team and expressed the reason behind playing attacking cricket.

“This tour has been a learning experience for me. Different environment and in every sense, it has been an enjoyable experience. Learnt about improvements I need to make. The ball comes differently here, and I tried giving my all, but I accept there were challenges. This experience will keep me in good stead as I am learning and would strive to improve during the next series,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying by RevSportz.

“Rohit Sharma helps me maintain a positive frame of mind, and we needed to score runs quickly against the new ball. I just wanted to give a good start, and that was all there in my mind as we had to win the match,” he added.

It’s not that I have an attacking game only: Jaiswal

Jaiswal clarified he has multiple styles of play in his arsenal and he can change as per the team’s need. He further explained that he would bat differently on Day 1 of a Test match in comparison to a time when 70 runs are needed.

“There’s no particular style I want to adhere to, and it’s not that I have an attacking game only. I can change my game as per the team’s demands. In the last three innings and even in this knock, I had done the same thing. I would bat differently if it’s the first day and differently if it’s the final session and 70 runs needed. I try to change my game as per the team’s needs,” Jaiswal said.
