The hitman of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma, is on the verge of getting himself enlisted into an elite list of captains, who have showed impeccable batting brilliance, en route to tormenting the opposition around the world. Notably, Team India will kick off the ODI series against England, on Thursday, February 6. The opening match of the 50-over format will be held at the renowned Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium (VCA), in Nagpur.
Ahead of the first game, India's captain will have the chance to not only find his batting rhythm but also etch his name in the history books among some elite leaders, who have graced the game of cricket. In the same regard, he will be chasing an exemplary record with a chance to surpass the former Pakistan captain and legend, Imran Khan. If he manages to score daddy centuries during the upcoming series against England at home, he will be among the elite skippers who have led their nations from the front with their batting fireworks.
Speaking of Khan, the former all rounder went on to score an impressive 5,655 runs during his illustrious international career. When it comes to Rohit, he is only 293 runs behind Imran, as he has piled up 5,363 runs as a captain.

Meanwhile, speaking of the first ODI, Rohit Sharma will be eager to end his run drought in his favourite format. While England were pummelled during the 20-over series, Team India would like to carry on the momentum from where they left off. However, the Mumbai-based batter's dismal run continued with the bat even during the domestic matches, remains a matter of concern.

Notably, the 37-year-old made his sole appearance for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 edition against Jammu and Kashmir. Across the two innings he batted in, Rohit managed to score just 31 runs. But it will be redemption time for the Indian captain to come good in the ODI series and set the tone for the rest of the team for the upcoming ICC mega event, Champions Trophy 2025.
