Indian team skipper, Rohit Sharma recently made it clear that the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh is not merely a warm-up for the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia. Notably, the series is slated to begin in November this year.
Sharma emphasized the importance of each match and the team's optimism to start the season on a strong note. The two-Test series against Bangladesh will be the beginning of a packed calendar for the Indian cricket team, with ten matches lined up ending with the BGT. However, the opener spoke about prioritizing the immediate challenge at hand.
"No dress rehearsal, Every game is important. Doesn’t matter where we play. We want to win, want to win this Test and the series. Not looking too far ahead. It’s nice to have everyone back and start the season on a high," said Rohit during the pre-match press conference.

It was important to utilize this little camp in Chennai: Rohit Sharma
Team India have been preparing for the upcoming series, with a training camp in Chennai, which kicked off a week before the first Test on September 19. All key players, including the 37-year-old and star batter, Virat Kohli, have been actively participating in the camp from day one. Besides, the captain also talked about some players who participated in the Duleep Trophy, and others needing this camp to get back into the rhythm of Test cricket.
"We had a break. Important to have a camp. We had a good time spending on the field, getting this back together. It’s tough. Guys who didn’t play a lot played Duleep Trophy. We are quite ready for this game and what lies ahead. It was important to utilise this little camp in Chennai pretty well," the Indian captain further added.
