Rohit Sharma will run 20km daily if I become India's coach: Yograj Singh

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stated that he is not going away from the ODI format after the Champions Trophy 2025 victory. Apart from MS Dhoni, he is the only Indian team captain who led the team to win multiple ICC titles - T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025. 

However, the Indian opener will be 38 in a month. In the middle of this, Yograj Singh, father of Indian cricketer Yuvraj, has revealed what he make Rohit do if he is made the coach of the Indian team.

“If you make me the coach of the Indian team, I will use these same players to transform it into a side that will be unbeatable for ages. Who will bring out their capabilities? Because you are always ready to throw them out of the team - drop Rohit Sharma or drop Kohli - but why? They are going through a bad phase and I want to tell my kids that I am with you. I’ll tell them let’s play Ranji Trophy, or Rohit bhagenge 20 km roz (Rohit will run 20 km daily). I will tell them I love them. Nobody does that. These players are diamonds. You don’t throw them out," Yograj said on Taruwar Kohli’s podcast.

"I will be like their father. I have never differentiated between Yuvraj and the others, not even Dhoni. But what is wrong is wrong,” he added.

Arjun Tendulkar trained with me for 12 days, and scored a century on Ranji debut: Yograj

The former Indian cricketer claimed that he trained Arjun Tendulkar and prepared him for his debut in the Ranji Trophy. Arjun’s maiden Ranji outing with Goa saw him score a century against Rajasthan, and Yograj reminded that he had trained the youngster only for twelve days ahead of his First Class debut.

“If Arjun Tendulkar comes to me now, I will make him the world’s greatest batter in six months. No one knows the potential he has with the bat. He was with me for 12 days, he scored a century in Ranj trophy debut. Did anybody realise?” he said.

“Goa’s team was here. Sachin and Yuvraj told me to take Arjun Tendulkar under my wings. He stayed here with me for 10-12 days. I thought, ‘he is such a great batter, kahan isko bowling mein laga rakkha hai?’ Why are you wasting him in bowling?’ As a batting all-rounder, he will be fine,” Yograj added.
