SA vs IND 2024: VVS Laxman praises India's fearless approach
"During any tours to any foreign country, we play and try to entertain the crowd," VVS Laxman said.
India's stand-in head coach VVS Laxman praised his players for the fearless approach they have shown during the ongoing four-match T20I series against South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav's side have taken an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series and would want to win the last game to bag the series.
India have amassed 200-plus totals in two out of the three games played so far as Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma smashed exhilarating tons in Durban and Centurion, respectively. The bowlers have also fared commendably, with mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy leading the way. South Africa won the second T20I but the Indian bowlers made a paltry 125-run target look much bigger with their appreciable skillsets.
Laxman asserted that the Indian team tried to entertain the crowd as much as they can, especially on away tours. He also lauded the fans for making them feel at home with their relentless passion and support.
“What we have seen in these three matches is the fearless approach of this team. During any tours to any foreign country, we play and try to entertain the crowd. And we always feel that we are playing at home,” Laxman said during a reception hosted for the Indian team.
India prepare for Johannesburg test
After three intriguing matches, the series-deciding fourth T20I between India and South Africa is set to be held at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday, November 15. The Men in Blue will be entering the clash as favourites as they have looked in better shape than the Proteas, who have lost seven out of their last nine matches in the shortest format of the game.
South Africa's batting has let them down as bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen is their leading run-getter in the series. The likes of captain Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and David Miller have to step up for the home side.
