SA vs IND: Rohit Sharma seen appreciating Virat Kohli after defiant Centurion knock

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was captured appreciating ace Indian batter Virat Kohli after his fighting knock against South Africa in the second innings of the first Test in Centurion. India were in trouble, but Kohli’s masterful 76-run knock kept the hopes alive for the visitors.

In the clip that has been going viral, Rohit was seen clapping and patting Kohli’s back after he was dismissed and walked back to the dressing room.

The side conceded 408 runs in the first innings against the Proteas with Dean Elgar scoring a brilliant 185. As for team India, Jasprit Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker in the first innings, taking four wickets. Mohammed Siraj took two wickets as well, with Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, and Ravichandran Ashwin took one wicket each. 

Aiming to minimise the trail and put on a lead, the Indian team got off to a horrid start in the second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma were sent packing for just five and zero runs, respectively. Shubman Gill added 26 runs on the board as well.

Furthermore, it was the knock of Virat Kohli that stabilised the innings for the Indian team. The 35-year-old scored 76 runs in 82 deliveries and provided some hope to the side. 

However, the rest of the batters could not amount to much, Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for six runs, with KL Rahul getting dismissed for just four runs. 

The Indian team was bundled out for just 131 runs and lost the game by an innings and 32 runs. As for South Africa, Nandre Burger was the highest wicket-taker with four wickets to his name. Marco Jansen took three wickets with Kagiso Rabada taking two as well.
