He had represented Chennai Super Kings in 2008 and 2009, Rajasthan Royals in 2011 and finished his playing career with the Mumbai Indians in the 2013 edition, where they went on to register their maiden triumph.
Jacob Oram's playing and coaching careers
As far as his international career is concerned, Oram has represented the BlackCaps in 33 Tests, 160 One Day Internationals and 36 T20Is between 2001 to 2012 and the iconic all-rounder is also one of the 36 New Zealand Test players to have amassed 1000 runs and one among six Kiwi cricketers to have scored 1000 runs and picked up 100 wickets in One Day Internationals.
Notably, Oram’s international cricketing career was also marred with a few injuries. As far as the bowling all-rounder’s coaching career is concerned, he began his coaching stint with the New Zealand A side in 2014 and was also associated as the assistant coach of the New Zealand women’s cricket team.
Apart from Oram, other appointments in the coaching setup include the likes of former Australian Test specialist Simon Katich (head coach), South Africa batting icon Hashim Amla (batting coach), James Pamment (fielding coach). Meanwhile, veteran Proteas all-rounder Robin Peterson has been named the franchise’s Team Manager for the pre-season.
MI Cape Town will kick off their SA20 campaign against the Paarl Royals in Cape Town on January 9, 2023. The final is scheduled to be played on February 11. The franchise will be looking to make a dream start to the SA20 and would be eager to set high standards, replicating the exploits of the IPL franchise.
