Forer India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj recently opened up about why Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun stopped training under him after his IPL selection.
Arjun trained under Yograj in 2022 for 12 days at DAV College in Chandigarh. During this period, the all-rounder made his First-Class debut for Goa in the Ranji Trophy and scored a remarkable century against Rajasthan. His performance earned him a spot in the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad for the IPL, with a contract worth INR 20 lakh.
Despite the achievements, Arjun did not continue training with Yograj. Addressing the situation, the former claimed that the decision came from concerns about his name being associated with Arjun’s success.
"When he scored a hundred on debut and then returned to IPL, then people were afraid, what if his (Arjun's) name gets stuck with me? Do you understand what I mean? So people are afraid of getting a tag behind their name," Yograj said during a podcast interview on Unfiltered by Samdish.
Yograj expressed his disappointment over the reason and also revealed he had spoken to Yuvraj about the matter and asked him to tell Sachin to leave his son with him for a year and then see the results. "I told Yuvi - Sachin ko bolo - leave him with me for a year and see what happens," he added.
Arjun has played 17 First-Class matches, picking 37 wickets and scoring 532 runs, alongside stints in List A and IPL. Despite mixed results in his IPL outings, Mumbai Indians picked him for INR 30 lakh in the mega auction.

Shubman Gill's father came to me: Yograj Singh
Yuvraj's father also mentioned his interaction with Shubman Gill’s father and the piece of advice he gave when the youngster was just five years old.
“When Shubman was five, his father came to me. I told him, whether you know cricket or not, keep throwing the ball at him and install a net. Shubman’s father followed that advice, and today, we see where his son stands. He has created Shubman Gill as a father since he was five years old," Yograj further added.
