Sai Sudharsan opens up on MS Dhoni's humility and tactical brilliance

The IPL 2023 was full of sensational performances from several youngsters who made a name for themselves in the grandest T20 league in the world. Among the many youngsters who dazzled throughout the season, Sai Sudharsan was one name that was on everyone’s lips right from the start. The 21-year-old replaced Kane Williamson as an Impact Player after the Kiwi batter got injured while fielding during the curtain raiser of the tournament. 

Sudharsan scored back-to-back half-centuries during the second and third fixture of GT and further played a scintillating knock, scoring 96 off 47 balls in the final. The Chennai-born batter, who took CSK to the cleaners in the big game, revealed that he got a chance to speak to MS Dhoni after Qualifier 1 and will keep his advice with him going forward.

“I got an opportunity to speak to him for 10-15 minutes after Qualifier 1. I think we spoke a lot about cricket, and knowing more of yourself, and I think it is very useful, and I will take it going forward definitely,” Sudharsan was quoted as saying by News18.

He further said that the CSK captain is the most humble person he has ever met, as he gives time to everyone.

“Dhoni is the most humble person I have met because he gives time to everyone. On the day I spoke to him, there were a lot of people talking to him before. He was very humble, and he gave everybody a lot of time and that is one thing I admire about him. The way he reads the game, I would also like to learn a lot from him and if given an opportunity, I would like to speak to him in the future," he added.

Sai Sudharsan had a remarkable IPL 2023 as he scored 362 runs in eight innings at an average of 51.71 and a strike rate of 141.40 with three fifties to his name. His 96 in the final is the third-highest individual score registered in the history of the IPL final. The Tamil Nadu batter will next feature in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, starting from June 12, playing for Lyca Kovai Kings. Notably, Sudharsan was the most expensive player of the ongoing season, as he was bought for INR 21.6 lakh.
