Ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam named Saim Ayub, Omair Bin Yousuf, and Mohammad Haris as three potential superstars of the Men in Green in the coming times. The cricketer, however, cautioned the players not to burden themselves with the pressure of international cricket and urged them to keep things simple and follow the process.

Notably, 20-year-old Saim Ayub has represented Pakistan in eight T20I matches so far and has managed to score only 123 runs. On the contrary, his domestic numbers look great, averaging 32.25 in first-class cricket and 46.64 in List-A cricket. Thus, even though the youngster hasn’t shown a lot of promise on the international stage, he has the quality to make it count if given more opportunities.

Mohammad Haris, on the other hand, has done remarkably well in the Pakistan Super League but couldn’t transpire that at the international level. The 22-year-old has represented Pakistan in 14 matches so far, scoring 153 runs, which is poor, to say the least. Omair meanwhile is yet to make his debut but nevertheless remains an exciting talent which the team can use in the build-up to the World Cup, which is slated to begin in the month of October later in the year.

“As far as promising youngsters are concerned, Saim Ayub, Omair Bin Yousaf, and Mohammad Haris are potential superstars in my opinion. They just to focus hard and do simple things properly without burdening themselves with the pressure of international cricket,” Babar stated while talking to CricWick.

Saim is a wonderful addition to the batting line-up: Fakhar

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman backed Saim as well and stated that the youngster is an excellent addition to their batting line-up. He even went on to add that he can be as good as Babar and asked the fans not to judge him by his recent outings as his future looks bright.

“Saim is a wonderful addition to the batting line-up. His range of shots is really good. After Babar, Pakistan have got such a player. You can’t judge a player so early, but I feel that if he continues to work hard and take care of himself, then he would serve Pakistan for a long time and will win a lot of matches for Pakistan,” Fakhar mentioned.
