The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is receiving a lot of flak for the freak injury caused to New Zealand star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra. The Kiwi also missed out on the ODI against South Africa yesterday and was replaced by Devon Conway who went on to play a match-winning knock of 97, helping New Zealand make it to the finals of the tri-series.

The reason for Ravindra’s injury is being claimed in some quarters to be due to the LED floodlights causing him to misjudge the ball completely while fielding at mid-wicket. The fans and experts had blamed the PCB for this issue saying that the lights had a lot of glow which affected his vision while going for the catch.

Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt, on the other hand, went on to blame Ravindra for the injury saying that the reason behind him getting injured is because of misjudging the ball and also brought up the topic of New Zealand batters facing the express pace of Pakistan bowlers well.

“There's no point trying to make people understand when they don't want to. It's irrelevant. These are some of the latest LED lights that have been installed, so these are fine. When New Zealand players hit sixes off deliveries bowled at close to 150 kph, were the lights not working then? A player who was standing 70 meters away failed to take the catch because of his misjudgement. He is a fine fielder, but perhaps his leg slipped, and he got hurt," Butt said on a local news channel as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Speaking of the tri-series, the New Zealand team has comfortably made it to the finals with two wins and the second finalist will be decided in the match between Pakistan and South Africa which will be played on February 12 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
