After drawing the T20I series and registering a dominant win in the ODI series, India will be gearing up to take on South Africa in a two-game Test series. The first Test will be played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion from December 26, and it could be a huge occasion for the visitors as they have never won a Test series in South Africa.

The red-ball series against the Proteas has been dubbed one of the toughest and the final hurdle for the Indian team, and with the series around the corner, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar came forward to give his take on why India have never won a Test series in South Africa.

Bangar opined that the reason for India not winning a Test series in South Africa is not due to their cricket abilities. He revealed that the side has never played a full-length Test series and is never able to familiarise themselves with the conditions.

"India has not won test series in South Africa because they play 2 or 3-match test series. If they get to play four or five-match Test series, it would reflect in their performance," said Sanjay Bangar on Star Sports.

India look to clinch Test series after ODI triumph

It is worth noting that India will face South Africa in two Test matches, with the first one beginning from December 26 and the second one scheduled to begin from January 3. The side will be brimming with confidence after their latest series in the ODI format against the Proteas.

Furthermore, the visitors will receive a big boost as several senior players will join the fray for the Test series. Unlike the ODI series, the Test team will be led by veteran batter Rohit Sharma and the likes of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Ravichandran Ashwin, and many more stars will feature as well.

After their recent win in the 50-over format, it could be interesting to see if India is able to win their first-ever Test series in South Africa.
