Sanju Samson has faith in his abilities just like MS Dhoni; he should be a regular in national side: Harbhajan Singh

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh lavished massive praise on Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson and stated that he should be a regular in the Indian national team. Notably, Samson-led Rajasthan pulled off a sensational win against defending champions Gujarat Titans, with the skipper playing a blazing knock (32-ball 60) during the chase.  

Impressed with Samson’s skills, Harbhajan gave the ultimate compliment to him as he kept him parallel with CSK skipper MS Dhoni. The former spinner also stated that Samson should regularly feature for India in white-ball cricket.

"We've seen another captain's knock from Sanju. I have said in the past and still believe that he should be a regular feature in the Indian national side (in white ball format). He plays spinners and fast bowlers with equal ease. He knows how to absorb pressure and is a strong-willed player. He has faith in his abilities, just like MS Dhoni," said Harbhajan on Star Sports.

Samson played an instrumental knock at a point when Rajasthan had lost nearly half their side for 55 runs. The skipper kicked in and hammered six maximums and three fours to help revive the chase. The Royals were further aided by Shimron Hetmyer’s explosive innings as he clobbered an unbeaten 26-ball 56 to snatch the game away from the defending champions.

RR eye fourth consecutive win

Following their impressive win against the Titans, Rajasthan will be eager to obtain their fourth win on the trot against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The two sides will take the field on April 19 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in Match 26 of the ongoing IPL 2023.

The Royals currently stand atop the points table with eight points and a healthy Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.354. On the other hand, KL Rahul’s Super Giants are just below Rajasthan, placed second with six points and a NRR of 0.761.

Speaking about their head-to-head records, the franchises have contested in two games thus far in the league. Rajasthan have asserted their dominance on both occasions and will be gunning to add another win in Wednesday’s blockbuster clash.
