‘Sare secret bata du kya’ - Suryakumar Yadav makes hilarious comment over T20 World Cup preparation
“Should I reveal all secrets here? I want to enjoy the journey. We have to prepare the team, decide the position and play most games as a group," Suryakumar Yadav said.
Star India batter and T20I Skipper Suryakumar Yadav recently left everyone stumped with a hilarious reply, when asked about the preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026. With just a year left until the commencement of the marquee event, the Indian team will hope that the upcoming T20I series against England will prove to be good practice for the side.
As part of the pre-game press conference ahead of the first England T20I, Suryakumar was asked about how India are preparing to defend their T20 World Cup title. In reply, he pointed out how he discussed things with the Indian coach, Gautam Gambhir. Moreover, he cheekily asked a reporter if he should reveal all the secrets right away.
“Sare secret bata du kya idhar hi? I want to enjoy the journey. We have to prepare the team, decide the position and play most games as a group. This is what me and Gauti bhai, (head coach Gautam Gambhir) focus on,” Suryakumar Yadav said in the pre-game press conference.
That's the main target: Axar Patel
Team India’s Vice Captain Axar Patel was asked the same question as well. However, India’s T20I deputy had a more straightforward answer as compared to Suryakumar Yadav.

"World Cup is coming up in a year, so how we approach leading up to that, we want to try it from now itself. That's the main target. Momentum is a big thing because if you start well, you can carry it. We finished 2024 well, so we want to carry the momentum into this series too," Axar told the reporters.
The Indian team will kick off their series against England on Wednesday, January 22. Both sides will lock horns at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It is worth noting that India and England will take on each other across five T20Is and three ODI matches. Both sides will hope that the three ODIs will prove to be good practice for the Champions Trophy 2025 which is right around the corner.
