Pakistan defeated England to register their first Test series win since 2023. After a dismal performance in the ODI World Cup, Babar Azam stepped down as captain of all three formats and that’s when Shan Masood was appointed as the new Test leader of Pakistan. Under his leadership, they lost an away series to Australia and at home, Bangladesh whitewashed them and following which, there were doubts about Masood’s future as captain.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) backed Masood and his team finally delivered in the three-match series against England. After a defeat in the first Test by an innings and 47 runs, the hosts made a tremendous comeback to win back-to-back games and seal the series 2-1. After the game, Masood thanked the fans for sticking through the tough times and hoped that they would play a longer series against England going forward.

“First Test win came after a long time, now the series win. This means a lot for me, the players, the coaches and the management - they came through a lot. The character says a lot, this is a special moment and you can't take this off the team,” Masood said in the post-match presentation.

“This series win is for the people of Pakistan who have suffered a lot with us, thankful for the English team, the contests between the two teams are always memorable and I wish we play more, possibly a 5-match series,” he added.

If your plans are clear then it becomes easier: Saud Shakeel

Saud Shakeel was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his incredible century in the third Test in Rawalpindi. The surface wasn’t easy to bat on but Shakeel dealt mostly in singles, helping Pakistan take a lead of 77 runs in the first innings. Meanwhile, reflecting on playing in such conditions, Shakeel said that he had a clear plan, which made things easier.
