Whenever the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket are discussed, late Australian legend Shane Warne’s name is always thrown into the mix. The Australian great suddenly passed away due to a suspected heart attack in a Thailand hotel on March 4, 2022.

Undoubtedly, Warne was one of the greatest bowlers to represent Australia. In 145 Test matches, he boasted a record of 708 wickets to his name. It is hard to forget the ‘ball of the century’ as well that he bowled to Mike Gatting back in The Ashes series in 1993.

World cricket was saddened by Warne’s sudden demise, and many cricketers came forward to pay their tributes on spinner's first death anniversary. One such individual was former Australian skipper Allan Border, who recently came forward and opined that Warne is the greatest bowler ever to represent Australia.

"He’s on that (Bradman) level. Sir Donald Bradman was a batsman; he’s our best batsman, But who’s our best bowler? That starts an interesting debate: Lillee and McGrath, but Warne’s got to be our best bowler ever. When Shane Warne was in the Australian cricket team, Australia wins Test matches. It was the same with Bradman," Border was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.

Pop singer Ed Sheeran paid tribute to late Shane Warne as well

Despite the saddening demise of Shane Warne in 2022, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of cricket fanatics across the globe. Warne’s children Brooke, Jackson, and Summer were at the MCG on Thursday night, where British pop singer Ed Sheeran paid tribute to the late Shane Warne.

"Being in the MCG tonight and not having my friend Shane Warne here to watch this, I know this venue was really, really special to him," Ed Sheeran said while addressing the 100,000-strong crowd. He dedicated a song to Warne and his children as well.
