Shikhar Dhawan reflects on prospect of biopic on his life, reveals his pick of actors for role

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24 with a post on his social media account. The 38-year-old ia a true inspiration for openers across the globe as established his name as one of the best openers in the last decade. Ever since his stellar performances in the Champions Trophy 2013, Dhawan became a stalwart in the Indian team. 

He played his last international game in 2022 before losing his place youngsters like Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. Meanwhile, shortly after he announced retirement, Dhawan was asked about a potential biopic that could be made about his life. Speaking about the same, the southpaw revealed that he would love a biopic to be made on his life. He also named Akshay Kumar or Ranveer Singh as the potential actors who could play him.

“I would love it, only if it is made well. As for me acting in it, I would happily do it in case I added any value to the film. As for other actors, I would love for Akshay paaji (Akshay Kumar) to do it, or even Ranveer Singh, for the sheer energy he has,” Dhawan told Hindustan Times.

Dhawan was also asked whether he is afraid that he would lose his fame after retirement. However, the 38-year-old said he is confident that the fans will continue to love him and that his fanbase will grow even further.

“Why will I lose fame if I give up cricket? Who knows, the fame might increase also. Main logon ke dilon mein basa hua hoon. Not only through cricket…sometimes even through my Instagram reels (laughs). I’m definite that the love I get from people will continue to grow,” Dhawan said.
