Shivam Dube reveals pep talk with Rohit Sharma after Mohali exploits

In a spectacular display of all-round prowess, Indian cricketer Shivam Dube played a pivotal role in India's triumph over Afghanistan in the first T20I at Mohali on Thursday, January 11. Dube's stellar performance with both bat and ball secured a convincing six-wicket victory for India, propelling them to a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Scoring an unbeaten half-century, he showcased his natural flair, accumulating 60 runs off 40 deliveries, adorned with five boundaries and two sixes. His effective bowling was highlighted by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran while conceding just nine runs in his two overs. After his masterclass, the India all-rounder revealed in the post-match conversation that skipper Rohit Sharma had showered him with compliments.

“I was batting at 4 after a long time. There was a bit of pressure on me, but I was clear in my mind that I had to play my game. From my style, I feel a bit of pressure on the first 2 to 3 balls, but after that, I think about the ball and don't think too much. I know I can hit big sixes in T20s, so I know I can get runs anyway,” said Dube as quoted by India Today.

“Rohit Sharma said that I played really well and that we'll chat to improve my game in upcoming games. Today, I got the opportunity with the ball and executed what I had to,” he added.

India off to a flier against Afghanistan in three-match T20I series 

In a gripping T20 clash at Mohali, Afghanistan set India a challenging target of 159 runs, propelled by a stellar innings from seasoned all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. Responding to the challenge, Indian batters Shivam Dube and Jitesh Sharma emerged as the heroes, successfully chasing down the target with six wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare. Dube's unbeaten 60, coupled with Jitesh's brisk 31 off 20 balls, showcased their batting prowess and secured a notable victory for India.
