Delhi Capitals (DC) opener David Warner continued his marvellous form in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) with a brilliant half century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 13 on Sunday, March 31 in Visakhapatnam. Opening the innings alongside Prithvi Shaw, Warner got his team off to a rollicking start by adding 93 runs for the first wicket off 57 balls.
The southpaw brought up his half-century off just 32 balls and went on to score 52 off 35 balls smashing five fours and three sixes. One of his shots was a sight to behold during the third over of the innings as he broke the shackles after scoring just five runs off the first six balls. On the third ball of the over bowled by Deepak Chahar, the southpaw got down on his knees to whack him over deep square leg for a massive six.

Warner was well supported by Prithvi Shaw during the innings who also played a brilliant knock of 43 (27) with the help of four fours and two sixes playing the first game of the season. Notably, Mitchell Marsh was opening alongside Warner in the first two games of the season for DC, however, he failed to convert his starts into big scores.

Shaw was finally brought into the team in place of Ricky Bhui who failed to leave a mark in the first two games of the season and was slated in as an opener as Marsh was pushed to number three. After a good opening stand between Shaw and Warner, CSK made a brilliant comeback by picking three wickets in a space of five overs to leave Delhi reeling at 134/5 after 15 overs.

Their innings was rescued by captain Rishabh Pant who scored a crucial half-century (51 off 32), his first since his return back to professional cricket. As a result, DC finished their innings on 191/5 in the allotted 20 overs.
