Australia and New Zealand are locking horns in Match 27 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday, October 28 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. After being put in to bat first, Australia posted a massive score of 388 all out in 49.2 overs as Travis Head scored a breathtaking hundred on his return.

Glenn Maxwell also played a quick-fire innings of 41 off 24 balls smashing five fours and two sixes in his innings. The aggressive batter put his wide array of strokes on display and smacked the Kiwi bowlers all around the park. One of his shots, left everyone gasping for breath as he launched Mitchell Santer on the roof of the stadium.

On the third ball of the 43rd over, the left-arm spinner bowled a flighted delivery outside the off stump as Maxwell came down the track and whacked it over the bowler’s head for a gigantic six which landed on the roof. The shot travelled a whopping 104 metres which is also the longest six in the tournament so far.

Travis Head scores the fastest hundred on World Cup debut

Earlier in the innings, Australia got off to an electrifying start as openers David Warner and Travis Head got involved in a massive 175-run stand off 115 balls. Warner continued his sensational form and missed out on his third consecutive hundred in the tournament as he got dismissed for 81 (65). On the other hand, Head scored a scintillating hundred on his comeback to the Australian team post his injury

He also registered the fastest hundred on his World Cup debut reaching the landmark in just 59 balls and scored 109 (67) smashing ten fours and seven sixes in his innings. Following his dismissal, contributions from Josh Inglis (38 off 28) and Pat Cummins (37 off 14) propelled Australia’s total to 388 in the death overs. Glenn Phillips was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he picked up 3/37 in ten overs while Trent Boult (3/77) also picked up three wickets in his ten-over spell.
