Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) put up an absolute carnage against Mumbai Indians (MI) during Match 7 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Wednesday, March 27 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The Pat Cummins-led side shattered record books as they registered the highest score in the IPL history posting a mammoth total of 277/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

Heinrich Klaasen was the top scorer for his side with his innings of 80* (34) with the help of four fours and seven sixes. One of the shots left everyone in the ground amazed as he smashed Kwena Maphaka for a gigantic six over his head in the 17th over. On the fourth delivery of the over, the South African seamer bowled a slower delivery in Klaasen’s arc and the right-hander made him regret immediately by clobbering him with all his might for a six.

Earlier in the day, SRH lost their opener Mayank Agarwal early in the innings for just 11 (13) in the fifth over. However, his partner Travis Head got good company in Abhishek Sharma as the left-handed duo took MI bowlers to the cleaners.

Head got to his fifty off just 17 balls and went on to score 62 off 24 balls smacking nine fours and three sixes. On the other hand, Sharma completed his fifty a ball earlier than Head reaching the landmark in just 16 balls and registering the fastest fifty ever for SRH. The 23-year-old was finally dismissed on 63 (23) with the help of three fours and seven sixes in his innings.

Following their dismissals, Klaasen and Aiden Markram gave the perfect finish to Hyderabad’s innings helping them surpass RCB’s record for highest total. The duo got involved in an unbeaten 116-run stand off 55 balls for the fourth wicket. Markram remained unbeaten on 42* (28) while Klaasen scored 80* (34) as SRH surpassed RCB’s record 11-year-old record of 263 in the final over bowled by Shams Mulani.
