New Zealand and the Netherlands are locking horns in Match 6 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After being put in to bat first by Netherlands captain Scott Edwards New Zealand posted a massive score of 322/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Will Young (70 off 80), Rachin Ravindra (51 off 51) and Tom Latham (53 off 46) all scored half-centuries for the Kiwis.
Mitchell Santner also gave a late burst to the innings as he played a brilliant cameo of 36* off 17 balls smashing three fours and two sixes. The southpaw made the most of the last over of the innings bowled by Bas de Leede by smacking him for back-to-back sixes off the last two balls. His first six brought the crowd to the edge of their seats as he clobbered a high full toss for a maximum over deep point. The delivery was signalled a no ball being above waist height hence Santer got a free hit on the next ball. This meant that the southpaw ended up achieving the near-impossible feat of scoring 13 runs off just one legal delivery with a no-ball along with a free hit awarded for the next delivery.

Later on in the second innings, Santner starred with the ball as well, as he was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands with his spell of 5/59 in ten overs. He picked up the wickets of Max ODowd (16 off 31), Colin Ackerman (69 off 73), Scott Edwards (30 off 27), Roelof van der Merwe (1 off 6) and Ryan Klein (8 off 15) to complete his second five-wicket haul in ODIs.
The left-arm spinner was deservedly awarded Player of the Match for his all-round show as he helped New Zealand beat the Netherlands by 99 runs by bundling them out for 223.
