Shpageeza Cricket League gives opportunity to Afghans to watch their heroes: Hashmatullah Shahidi

Afghanistan’s premier T20 tournament Shpageeza Cricket League nearing its conclusion. The marquee event featured top stars from Afghanistan cricket, including Hashmatullah Shahidi, Rashid Khan, and Naveen-ul-Haq, alongside Mohammad Nabi, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Azmatullah Omarzai.The league is being held in Kabul, and with the conclusion of the tournament, Hashamtullah Shahidi has opened up on how the tournament has proved to be excellent for youth development in the country.  

“Shpageeza is our top league, and this year, we have all the national heroes playing, they have taken time out from their schedules to play here, and it is an opportunity for the people of Afghanistan to see their heroes in person and on TV,” Shahidi told FanCode in an interview. 

It is interesting to note that Afghanistan Cricket has made significant improvements to their game over the last few years, with many of their players also participating in tournaments like the Indian Premier League, Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, and Pakistan Super League.Afghanistan recently managed to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals, which were held in the USA and the West Indies.

The Shpageeza Cricket League has long continued to be a stepping stone for the youngsters in Afghanistan, helping them take the next step in their careers. Their ever-growing presence in international cricket continues to be proof of the tournament’s effectiveness.

Afghanistan set to take on New Zealand in one-off Test

Speaking of Afghanistan’s upcoming assignments, they will be facing New Zealand in a one-off Test at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, Greater Noida, on September 9. After that, the two teams will face off in a three-game ODI series, with all to be played in Sharjah.
