Shreyanka Patil was the standout bowler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Women’s Premier League 2024. The spinner finished as the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets and won the Purple Cap and the Emerging Player of the Season award. This also made her position in the India women's team a prominent one. But the 22-year-old is having a tough time due to injury and missed the first game of WPL 2025.

RCB took on Gujarat Giants in the season opener of WPL 2025 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on February 14. Shreyanka, who is suffering from a shin injury, could not recover in time and was not named in the playing XI against GG. The injury has now ruled the Karnataka spinner out of the tournament and the team has named all-rounder Sneh Rana as her replacement.

RCB entered the ongoing season without the services of Kate Cross and Sophie Devine as well. They were marred with injuries to Asha Sobhana and Sophie Molineux too. Shreyanka has joined the increasing injury list of the defending champions and it would be interesting to see how the franchise will cope with the sudden changes of losing key players at the start of the tournament.

Speaking of Rana, she had played 12 games for GG so far and even captained the side twice when Beth Mooney sustained injury. She went unsold at the WPL 2025 auctions but as luck would have it, she has been roped in by RCB for the current edition. Rana had also travelled to Vadodara earlier this week with RCB as part of the side's pre-season camp.
