Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif expressed that flamboyant batter Shubman Gill’s batting technique is similar to that of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Gill, who is relishing a magnificent campaign in 2023 with the bat, has earned massive praises from fans and members of the cricketing fraternity.

Notably, the Gujarat Titans batter was at his lethal best in the IPL 2023 as he collected 890 runs in 17 appearances, lacing it with four half-centuries and three tons. In addition to this, he has centuries across all three formats and a double ton against New Zealand in the ODIs in a single calendar year (2023).

Garnering massive limelight for his impressive batting exploits, many fans and members of the cricketing fraternity have begun drawing parallels with the great Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif expressed his stance on the regard and felt that Gill’s batting exploits are similar to Tendulkar's than to Kohli’s.

“I feel (Shubman) Gill’s technique is similar to (Sachin) Tendulkar. It is very difficult to get him out at this point of time. There seems to be no weakness in his game. Virat (Kohli) and Sachin both are legends. I have played with both, but Kohli has his weaknesses. Gill is on the path of becoming great like Sachin when it comes to technique and mental strength," Kaif told Sportskeeda.

Kaif further spoke on the differences between Tendulkar and Kohli’s technique, citing the latter’s dismal tour of England in 2014. Kaif stated that Kohli failed to find answers to England’s James Anderson's lethal deliveries, which troubled him quite a lot during the campaign.

“Sachin was also a very organized batter. If I compare Sachin and Virat, the latter still has some weaknesses. He was out of form when he went to England (in 2014). James Anderson troubled him a lot outside the off stump and he had not answers to it. He was a total flop in that series," said Kaif.
