Baroda created history by registering 349 runs against Sikkim in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. Batting first, they had no intention of slowing down as openers Shashwat Rawat and Abhimanyu Singh wreaked havoc, scoring 92 runs for the first wicket. Rawat departed after scoring 43 runs off 16 deliveries, while Abhimanyu made 53 from just 17. They were batting at a strike rate of 268.75 and 311.76, which is phenomenal, to say the least.
Batting at three, Bhanu Pania continued with the momentum and started dealing in boundaries. The 28-year-old hit five boundaries and 15 sixes, scoring an unbeaten 134 runs in 51 deliveries. He was ruthless in the middle and whatever challenge Sikkim threw, he dealt with it quite well and punished them to create history at Emerald Heights International School Ground, Indore.
Later, Shivalik Sharma and Vishnu Solanki also didn’t change the tempo of the game. They walked in and batted aggressively, scoring 55 runs off 17 and 50 of 16 deliveries respectively. Sikkim bowlers looked clueless as the game progressed, as none of their plans worked in the middle. All the batters of Baroda had an aggressive mindset and managed to execute that with the bat, which was key.

Sikkim bowlers meanwhile had a terrible day, particularly Lee Yong Lepcha and Roshan. Lepcha leaked 55 runs in two overs, while Roshan conceded 81 in four, the joint-third highest in T20 cricket history. Tarun Sharma and Parth conceded 40 and 41 runs in their two overs respectively, while Ankur conceded 51 in four and Saptula leaked 36 off two. Palzor was the only bowler who looked decent, having picked up two wickets and conceded 45 runs in four.
