South Africa U19 Women to host India for five T20s in December-January

South Africa Women U19 are scheduled to host India U19 in a five-match T20I series starting December 27, confirmed by Cricket South Africa on the official Twitter handle of the Proteas Women. It will be a good opportunity for both sides to get some much-needed match practice heading into the U19 Women’s World Cup.

Apart from the senior Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in February next year, South Africa will also be hosting the inaugural edition of the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup between January 14 to 29. Benoni and Potchefstroom are the two venues for the upcoming event.

The WT20 series between South Africa and India U19 teams will get underway exactly after the Boxing Day. All the matches are scheduled to take place at the Tuks Oval in Pretoria. The games will be played in a gap of two days. After the first game on December 27, the following matches will be played on the 29^th, 31^st, January 2, and, 4 respectively.

Meanwhile, South Africa and India will also be playing their U19 World Cup opener against each other later on at the Willowmoore Park, Benoni. Both teams are placed in Group D alongside Scotland and the UAE. South Africa will be oozing with confidence heading into the home series against India U19 Women having whitewashed their African rivals Namibia and Zimbabwe earlier this year.

“It is important for us to measure our progress with other international countries. Our team has been working hard and playing against the SA provincial women’s domestic teams. And knowing that India has a good domestic structure, this will be a true reflection of where we are as a country,” said SA U19 Women’s head coach, Dinesha Devnarain.

“This will give us perspective on what to expect going to the World Cup. And with a limited turn-around time, we hope that we can play an expressive brand of cricket to execute our plans and succeed as a team,” concluded Devnarain.
