South Africa Women announce squad for one-off Test against England

Visiting side England Women (ENG-W) whitewashed the hosts South Africa Women (SA-W) in the three-match T20I series. The subsequent ODI series is currently poised at 1-1, with the third ODI scheduled to be played at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, on December 11. The conclusion of the ODIs will be followed by a One-Off Test, which will be held at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, from December 15. 

South Africa have released the squads for the upcoming sole Test and pacer Tumi Sekhukhune has been included in the squad. The other players to return to the squad are, Lara Goodall, Ayanda Hlubi and Chloe Tryon. Sekhukhune is not included in the ODI squad and she will replace the experienced, Ayabonga Khaka, who is currently out of the team’s longer format plans. 

"We reviewed the previous Test squad and made adjustments to bring balance to the team. Lara adds versatility to the batting line-up as a left-hander, Hlubi provides variation as an impact seam bowler, and Tumi has been consistent in her past performances, offering control to the bowling attack alongside our other bowlers,” said the convenor of selectors, Clinton du Preez, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. 

"It will go a long way for the ladies in terms of them understanding their game and what's needed in the longer version of the game. Getting an opportunity to play red-ball is good for our cricket and I'm looking forward to what they can bring,” said head coach Mandla Mashimbyi.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the Proteas Women’s squad for their historic one-off Test against England, scheduled to take place at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein from 15 - 18 December.
