Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowling coach Bharat Arun has backed star all-rounder Andre Russell for the upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati. The fans will also be hoping that the Jamaican swashbuckling veteran finds some form going into the upcoming fixtures.

Andre Russell has been one of the most reliable performers for KKR in the 11 years he has played for the franchise. He had a decent tournament last season as well, where he scored some crucial runs and took wickets with the ball as well. However, the 36-year-old West Indian failed to make an impact in the opening game where he got dismissed cheaply and was not trusted by the skipper with the ball. However, this has not stopped the KKR bowling coach Bharat Arun from putting his trust in him, saying that sport is about failing, and it will also be weighing on the two-time IPL winner's mind that he was not able to perform last game.

"Sport is about failing. You fail more often, then you succeed. Of course, champions like Russell, I think it must be weighing in his mind that he failed last game, and he is out to prove every single game. We are also hoping that he will really come good in tomorrow's game,"  Arun said as quoted by India Today.

Russell's journey in IPL

Russell is a certified legend for the KKR franchise who has impressed the fans with his ability to play explosive and match-winning innings and also contribute with some crucial wickets with the ball as well. He has played 128 IPL matches since his debut in 2012, where he has scored 2448 runs at an average of 28.93 and has an overall strike rate of 174.84.

Speaking of his performances with the ball, he has taken 116 wickets at an average of 23 and has an economy of 9.35. This makes him the second highest wicket taker in the team after his West Indian and KKR teammate Sunil Narine who is another KKR stalwart himself.
