In the 19th over of the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing IPL 2023, huge controversy broke out when Avesh Khan bowled a full-toss above Abdul Samad’s waist, and thus, the on-field umpires called it a no-ball. However, LSG skipper Krunal Pandya challenged the decision and called for the DRS. However, even though it was spotted that the ball was indeed above Samad’s waist, the third umpire reversed the original decision and cancelled the no-ball.

This made Heinrich Klaasen very furious as he was spotted talking to the third umpire for quite some time. However, the umpire himself looked bemused as he had nothing to do but follow the instruction. However, Twitter went buzzing following the incident as many criticised the third umpire’s decision against the Aiden Markram-led side.

The SRH fans at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad also instantly started to shout 'Kohli, Kohli' and the game was halted for a few minutes.

Notably, the controversy didn’t quite end there. In the final over of the innings, another such decision went against SRH. Even though the ball was spotted way above Samad’s head, the umpire didn’t call for wide, and even the third umpire agreed with the same, which once again confused the players on the field and the fans on various social media platforms.

Meanwhile, coming to their performance in the first innings, the home team posted 182 runs with the loss of six wickets. Opener Prabhsimran Singh gave a fantastic start, scoring 36 runs off 27 deliveries, while Rahul Tripathi (20 runs off 13 deliveries) and Aiden Markram (28 runs off 20 deliveries) chipped in well in the middle, but SRH still needed a massive finish to post a healthy total.

That’s when South Africa international Heinrich Klaasen stepped up and played a brilliant innings to bail SRH out of a difficult situation. The stumper-batter scored 47 runs off just 29 deliveries, while Abdul Samad hit 37* off 25 deliveries. Courtesy of their impressive knocks, SRH posted 182 runs on the board and will hope that their bowlers will be efficient enough to defend the total.
