SRH vs MI: Jason Behrendorff's new ball masterclass puts Mumbai in control

Jason Behrendorff bowled an impressive spell in the powerplay to put Mumbai Indians in the driving seat in the 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL) against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Australian pacer gave Mumbai the start they needed while defending a big total at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. 

Behrendorff dismissed the last match's centurion Harry Brook in the second over to silence the home crowd. Brook had smashed a spectacular cover drive for a boundary on the previous delivery, but Behrendoff lured the English batter for another big shot with a short delivery. Brook went for the pull, but the ball took a thick edge, and Suryakumar Yadav took an easy catch inside a 30-yard circle.

Behrendorff next dismissed in-form Rahul Tripathi in the fourth over, with Ishan Kishan taking a brilliant catch behind the stumps. Behrendorff bowled his third over as he finished the first spell with two wickets for just 18 to trouble the hosts to 42/2. 

Meanwhile, another Australian, Cameron Green, stole the show in Hyderabad as he smashed an unbeaten 64 off 40 to guide Mumbai Indians to a total of 192/5 while batting first. Both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave Mumbai a flying start but were not able to convert it into big knocks. 

Green, who batted in no.7 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the last game, was promoted to number three ahead of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma. Green struggled for big shots as he took 24 balls to score 28 runs, while Mumbai lost Suryakumar cheaply. 

But Green, with Tilak joining him in the middle, shifted the momentum again by smashing Marco Jansen for 21 runs in the 15th over. The duo pulled off a 56-run stand for the fourth wicket to put Mumbai on a track for a big total. 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Tilak in the 17th over, but Green finished the innings with his first fifty in IPL. The pacer all-rounder scored 64* off 40 with the help of six fours and two sixes, and Tim David added a crucial 16 off 11 to ensure a big total for Mumbai.
