Rajasthan Royals wonderfully started their IPL 2023 campaign by registering a massive 72-run win in their opening encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 2, Sunday. After being put into bat first, Rajasthan happily accepted the invitation and posted a humongous total of 203/5 in the first innings.
In reply, they restricted Hyderabad to 131/8 in their allotted 20 overs and started their IPL 2023 campaign on a winning note. As Rajasthan thumped Hyderabad, a hysterical moment from the second innings went viral on social media when star batter Jos Buttler was seen asking for an over from his captain Sanju Samson.
Rajasthan had complete control of the match in the second innings as SRH batters surrendered in front of their famed bowling attack and were reeling at 84/7 after 14.5 overs. Sensing a comprehensive victory for his side, Buttler made a gesture of bowling a delivery to Samson and asked for an over. The swashbuckling batter was seen smiling as his request was politely denied by the Rajasthan Captain.

Buttler couldn’t get a chance to bowl, however, he made the most of his opportunity to bat scoring a quick-fire half-century off just 20 balls. Buttler along with Yashasvi Jaiswal added 85 runs for the first wicket off just 35 balls and helped Rajasthan put on their highest score in the powerplay in IPL history.

The English opener was dismissed after scoring 54 off just 22 balls smashing seven fours and three sixes in his innings and was also awarded Player of the Match for his knock. Apart from Buttler, Jaiswal (54 off 37) and Sanju Samson (55 off 32) also scored half-centuries to help Rajasthan surpass the 200-run mark.
Rajasthan got off to an electrifying start with the ball as well Trent Boult dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi for ducks in the first over itself. In the middle overs Jason Holder, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal came to the party and picked crucial wickets for their side. Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan as he finished his spell with 4/17 after 4 overs and dismissed the dangerous-looking Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal.
