Sri Lanka Cricket recently came forward and announced their squad for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies. It is worth noting that the three-game series will kick off with both sides facing off in the first ODI at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 20.

Sri Lanka will be coming into the series on the back of a T20I series win against the West Indies. Out of the three matches, Sri Lanka lost the first T20I of the series but managed to register victories in the next two matches to clinch the series.

It is worth noting that Sri Lanka has been in good form as of late and after defeating the Windies in the T20I series, the side will aim to put in similar showings in the ODI series.

The secret was the top-order batters batted really well: Charith Asalanka

After winning the third T20I, Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka came forward and talked about his side’s performance throughout the series, admitting that the top order’s performance in the clash was commendable.

“Secret was the top order batters batted really well and they gave their best shot (in this game). We played good cricket (even against India) and we just needed a bit of momentum and we did that in the second game. (On if he was concerned losing the toss) Not that much but when they scored more than 160, I was a bit (concerned). But I knew if our top order batted well, we could do well. (On attacking the powerplay) That's the plan from both the openers (laughs). I am really happy and good to win the series and I want to thank every fan of Sri Lanka, staying with us and supporting us,” Asalanka said in the post-match presentation.
