The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most popular and richest T20 league in the world. Ever since its inception, this tournament has not only popularised cricket throughout the world but has also catapulted the careers of multiple cricketers.

The IPL 2023 is still a month away and the broadcasters of the cash-rich league decided to celebrate the glorious fifteen long years of the IPL by organising a special awards ceremony. Its main aim was to commemorate and honour the special players who, ever since the inception of the IPL, have contributed, through their performances, to the growth and popularity of cricket around the world.

Here are the winners of the Star Sports IPL Incredible Awards

The awards ceremony had multiple categories to recognise and honour various cricketers throughout the world. The jury members who decided the winners, comprised former India cricketers Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan.

Best Captain: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma was unanimously chosen for the 'Best Captain' award for his glorious exploits in IPL. This came as a no-brainer as he has led his franchise, Mumbai Indians, to five IPL titles. It was thus evident that no one deserved this award more than Rohit Sharma, who had perfectly mastered the art of winning the league with the best team.

Best Batter: AB de Villiers

Among the plethora of batters who have amassed tons of runs, the members of the jury decided to award South Africa's AB de Villiers with the 'Best Batter' award. The talismanic Protea represented the Delhi Daredevils at the start and then became a constant with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In his 184 IPL innings, he amassed 5162 runs at a strike rate of 151.69, averaging 39.71. His highest score in the IPL is 133.

Best Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been a regular for the Mumbai Indians, since 2013. He has contributed to the franchise in every possible manner and has won them matches from unimaginable situations.  He has scalped 145 wickets for the Mumbai franchise since his debut and has thus become the backbone of their bowling attack.

Incredible Overall Impact: Andre Russell

Unsurprisingly, Andre Russell won the 'Incredible Overall Impact' award. The West Indian, ever since he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders, has contributed to the success of the team both with the bat and the ball. He has on numerous occasions, single-handedly won matches for KKR and has been the most reliable batter for the Men in Purple and Gold.

Best Batting Performance in a Season: Virat Kohli

Recall the 2016 season and there should be no second thoughts about why Virat Kohli was chosen for this award. Who can forget his sheer dominance in that season of the IPL? Amassing a whopping 973 runs with four centuries in one edition, Kohli has been at the helm ever since and no other batsman has ever scored more runs than him in any single season of the IPL. Kohli was, therefore, the most obvious choice for this award.

Best Bowling Performance in a Season: Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine of the Kolkata Knight Riders won the award for the 'Best Bowling Performance in a Season'. Rightly so, this was awarded to him for his outstanding performance in his debut, back in the 2012 season of the IPL. This was the same year that saw KKR winning their maiden IPL title. The mystery spinner scalped 24 wickets in that edition, at an economy rate of 5.5.
