The previous match between RCB Women and UP Warriorz Women was arguably the most thrilling game of the season which also featured the first super over in WPL history. There were some outstanding performances from both sides and though it was Sophie Ecclestone who led the team to victory with both bat and ball, the innings from RCB star Ellyse Perry could not go unnoticed.
Though the innings came in a losing cause this was still one of the best innings in the tournament by the 34-year-old all-rounder who scored an unbeaten 90 off 56 deliveries, featuring nine fours and three maximums. This was the second-highest individual score for an RCB player in WPL history. Though Perry is still recovering from a hip injury she is delivering crucial performances in the tournament and is the leading run-scorer of this edition. The fans also witnessed her comeback with the ball in which she scalped Shweta Sehrawat.
With her innings, Perry also became the leading run-getter in WPL history overtaking her former Australian skipper Meg Lanning in the process. Perry has now scored a total of 835 runs in the 21 WPL matches she has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women. She averages 64.23 and has a strike rate of 133.17.
