Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar's cheeky dig at Josh Hazlewood for missing the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide has infuriated the ex-Australian cricketers, who called his allegations 'rubbish.' The war of words between the experts has already begun and is turning ugly going into the 2nd Test when the Indians will look to break the Pink Ball winning streak of the Baggy Greens at home.

The 1st Test in Perth ended as one of the most underwhelming results for the home team losing against the Indian team by a huge margin of 295 runs. This has given India the lead in the five-match Test series and things are not looking good for the Aussies, especially with the news of star pacer Josh Hazlewood who will be missing the Test due to a side strain injury.

Gavaskar’s remarks infuriate ex-Australian cricketers

The absence of Hazelwood is already a big blow to the Australian team and India legend Sunil Gavaskar also made a cheeky remark in his Sportstar column mentioning that there is some politics involved in Hazlewood’s availability in the 2nd Test. However, there are some Ex- Australian cricketers who did not find the allegations made by Gavaskar and showed their displeasure towards the statements made by him.

Former Aussie pacer Ryan Harris has expressed his views on Gavaskar’s remarks to the Indian Express stating  "Look, there are no, factions. That’s just all garbage. I’ve even heard Mr Gavaskar coming out and saying there’s some faction. It’s all rubbish. That doesn’t happen in Australia.”

Harris was not the only one who had rebuked Gavaskar’s remarks as former T20 World champion skipper Aaron Finch also expressed his problems with the remarks on ESPNcricinfo.

“It's not jabs anymore. Sunny is throwing haymakers over the top. It's quite funny because, having spent a lot of time with him during the first test, he was not saying things like that.”

Though we don’t know the full story about Hazlewood’s departure from the Test series it is safe to say that the India and Australia rivalry has started to take place off the pitch as well and the situation seems to be even more dramatic.
