The eagerly anticipated IPL 2024 will get underway from Friday, March 22 as Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on each other in the opening fixture at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
They will be led by a new captain Pat Cummins for whom the SRH management broke the bank and splurged INR 20.50 to have him onboard. Notably, the Australian captain had a phenomenal year in 2023 as he led his side to World Test Championship triumph, retained the Ashes and won the ODI World Cup.
The SRH management would hope that the fast bowler will bring his good for their franchise and help them qualify for the playoffs for the first time in four years. Notably, in the first phase of the tournament, SRH will play two matches at their home ground at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad against Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings respectively.
