Legendary India batter Gautam Gambhir had an important message for the spectators prior to the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan in the ongoing ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. The match got underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on October 14, Saturday.

There were plenty of Indian fans gathered outside the venue before the game, but only a few supporters of the Pakistan cricket team were there. After the toss, Gambhir encouraged the audience not to mock the Pakistan team since they were in India to compete in the World Cup. Notably, Pakistan fans from across the border were unable to obtain visas in time for the game, subsequently, the Ahmedabad Stadium was an ocean of blue due to the presence of Indian fans.

"Support your team but don't misbehave with your visitors, after all, they are your guests. We have to remember they are the visitors and here to play the World Cup," Gambhir said while speaking to Star Sports.

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan. India boasts a 7-0 head-to-head record against Pakistan. This meant that the 'Men in Blue' have never lost to the neighbours in a World Cup.

Shubman Gill included in India's playing XI, India start as favourites against Pakistan

After recovering from dengue, India's star batter Shubman Gill was able to get back to the playing XI, giving the team a significant boost. The 24-year-old was not present for the team's opening two games against Australia and Afghanistan, respectively.

India are favourites in the match, as they are coming off victories against the five-time champions Australia and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan also triumphed in their two games against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka and came with the same lineup that helped them win their last match.
